I'm Samriti, founder of Mortar & Pestle SPICES. Growing up with my siblings Mohit and Deepika, chai was always more than just tea for us, it was comfort, love, and childhood magic. From our mom's healing kadak chai during cold mornings to special chai moments at our grandma's house in tiny Dhagu Cups, those memories became the soul of our brand.

Our homemade chai always took time and effort. Fresh ginger, elaichi, long, black pepper, cinnamon, jayfhal, all crushed traditionally in a mortar and pestle to create that strong comforting flavour we grew up loving. It was messy, loud, time-consuming but absolutely worth it.

As life became busier, recreating the same perfect taste every single day became hard. Sometimes one ingredient was missing, sometimes the balance felt off. Yet we still kept chasing that authentic homemade chai experience.

When my brother moved to the USA, he searched everywhere for the same comforting chai flavour from home. He tried countless chai masalas but nothing truly tasted like the chai our mom and grandma made. That's when I decided to create a perfectly balanced handcrafted chai masala blend that delivers the same rich homemade taste, without the hassle.

The first time my brother and his friends tried it, they instantly said: This tastes exactly like Ghar Si Chai. And that moment became the beginning of Mortar & Pestle SPICES.
